48 weeks with Donna Downey - WEEK 4

It took me a while to upload week 4... but here it is! What a journey! First, I never thought i could draw at all and just like that I draw her... I am very happy with this page. I may have gone a little deep with the white on top of my flowers, but I really like the result! My husband says she is me... I am not sure about that, but I don't know how, she ended up a dark skin girl, like me... I like how she looks quite a lot!

Donna Downey's 48 weeks!

Excited doesn't even start to describe how I am feeling about taking this course. I have learned about it late in the year, around August. However, because of the cost of the course I had to wait a bit until I could afford it... But, 48 week is finally here for me! I am watching the videos for the first week initially while I am waiting for some supplies to arrive here in Trinidad.

I purchased the course in full and I will be posting my pages here in my blog. I hope you all like what you see! I am certainly going to love every step of this journey...

Thanks for reading and happy creating!

Creative Blog Hop

Hello, friends!

This post is a bit different from my previous one. I am member of a great art community called (AFA). There, we make art we are proud of... A friend from AFA keeps a blog ( invited me to take part on the blog hop and I loved the idea! We can see each other's art and make comments, give support and suggestions...

This blog hop mainly consists of me saying a few words about my art and what I am currently working on and name a few friends an their blogs, so the hop can continue...

I will start by answering a few questions:

What am I currently working on?

Well, I have my hands full with my art journaling! I feel so free to create in a larger scale and express myself in a more open way. Here are few of my pages:

This journal page has a very special meaning to me. My husband works at from home and spends a long time away from us... "Love always" is an expression he uses a lot when sending me messages.

I was in such good mood when I created this page... I jut wanted to be free to create and decided to make a page about it... I amply love this butterfly... I colored with colored pencils...

I mainly used a freebie print out from Peta  Thompson. She is an artist on another art community I am part of called Krazy Island Family (KIF) on Facebook. She was celebrating get 500 subscribers mark on her YouTube channel ( The writing is a poem by Margaret Atwood.

I achieved this color effect by using 2 colors of Dylusions ink spays and for the ghosting impression I used gesso to create resist against the spays.

How does my work differ from others in my genre?

I am mainly a collage artist, but I am in the big honing stages of drawing, so I plan to expand my art a little bit. There are a lot of artists out there that does the same thins as me, but we are all unique in our own way. It can a unique lettering or sketching, or even a unique technique.

Why do you make art?

I started with art to help with the daily stress I had to deal with in the beginning of the year... It ended up saving my life in a lot of ways! I love art and plan to keep creating for many years to come...

Now I would like to introduce you to a few blog friends that make awesome art!
As I mentioned before, I am part of a Facebook community called Krazy Island Family. This page is directly connected to Krazy Island Studios ( runned by Claudia Rossi. She has a great YouTube channel ( she shares with us her process to create art. They also offer weekly journaling prompts, which is also very fun!

This next blog is great! Willowing Arts ( is where Tam offers online classes, some of them free. She is very involved in the healing aspect of art, which I totally agree and appreciate... She has many projects at the moment, but her famous one is LifeBook 2015 ( I plan to join them in this journey next year and stretch myself further artistically.

Thanks for reading!

Krazy Island Studios - Paint... And only paint!

First, I just have to say that I have never used paint like this before and to be honest, I was literally afraid of trying. Instead of running from the challenge, which I thought about more than once LoL, I decided to try now and see how it went. This is the result... It can be simple and basic, but I am very proud of myself for completing this page. Thank you Claudia Rossi for the opportunity!

Art Journal Page - Journal 52 prompt: GRATITUDE

I usually don't follow prompts very well. I do tend to stray at some point, but this prompt really inspired me to create something that came from a very special place in my heart. This page is for Journal 52 and the prompt is GRATITUDE. I decided to write a prayer that says: "Lord, I am grateful for everything you have done for me and my family over the years. I am grateful for all the blessings you have always given us! I am  grateful for my daughters' lives and for the love my husband and I share everyday. Lord, you have never abandoned us in times of need or happiness. I am grateful for my art! Thank you for everything!"

For this page I used: Caran D'ache Water soluble crayons, cardstock, manila paper, oil pastels, Faber-Castell brush markers, washi tape, a wood tag, fabric, mini clothes pin, collage element and gel accent on the butterfly.

Krazy Island Studios prompt: Summer is Hot!

This is my page for the Krazy Island Studios. This week's prompt was Summer is Hot! For me, Summer is spending great days at the beach, either here in Trinidad or in Brazil. The tag says: "The best kind of therapy is beach therapy", which is completely true for me! I used gelatos, fabric, cardstock, inktense pencils, oil pastels and embellishments.
